Back in 1998, seven visionary and passionate growers got together to form Terroirs Originels with the aim to showcase the immense potential of Cru Beaujolais wines. Since then, this organization has grown to 30 grower members. Above all,Terroirs Originels is a human story uniting these artisan growers, sharing the same passion and the strong ambition to craft terroir driven wines.
What is “terroir?” To the growers of Terroirs Originels, it is a sense of place and time captured in a glass of wine. All member estates exclusively work with grapes grown on their ownvineyards. They farm their land following sustainable, organic, or biodynamic principles with the common commitment towards preserving their heritage. As a result, production levels are kept low with the focus on preserving the terroir, as opposed to an exponential increase in size.
