Delicate florals meet stone fruit, with fresh citrus and honeyed notes. The palate has structure and weight for a white, finishing with a signature flourish of minerality and a subtle bitter edge that marks this variety. Try it with richer foods fish, roast poultry or pork rather than a light aperitivo pairing. Walter Massa is credited almost singlehandedly with reviving Timorasso, a grape growers were ripping out in favour of easier crops before he began replanting it in the Colli Tortonesi in the 1980s. Derthona, the wine's name, is the ancient name for the town of Tortona, and the wine ages beautifully, developing riesling like petrol notes over time.
