Douro, Portugal – Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca
Aromas of cherry and strawberry followed by mint, fig and spices. Full-bodied on the palate, with soft, well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity. The strawberry note has a long aftertaste. Try it with grilled meats, hearty stews, or aged cheeses.
One of the oldest properties in the Douro, on the river's north bank near the Bagaúste dam. Part of the original 1756 wine demarcation ordered by the Marquês de Pombal; vineyards still carry Letter A, the region's highest classification.
