At 23, Michael Cooper moved to Spain to be with the woman he loved. He never left. Decades later, he and his wife have built their own winery in Campo de Borja, and he's become one of the pioneering voices in Aragón for single-vineyard wines from old vines — plots he calls unique treasures worth preserving and sharing.

The winery is named Vinos del Viento — wines of the wind — after the Cierzo, the gale that tears down the Ebro River Valley at over 50 km an hour and shapes everything that grows there.

You've seen his bottles on our shelves for years. On August 19, you get the man himself.

Michael will be pouring and walking us through his wines. He works with native grapes to bring back from near-obscurity, and vineyards farmed biodynamically and moving toward organic certification. He's expected to bring a few pours and maybe some that have never been on our shelf before.

Cheese and charcuterie boards will be out. Come at five, come at quarter to seven, stay as long as you like. Ask him anything — he's a WSET Diploma holder and a wine critic in his own right, and he genuinely likes the questions.

Wines will be available to purchase on the night. Cheers friends!
