Burgundy, France — 100% Chardonnay
Inviting aromas of apple, peach and citrus blossom greet the nose, complemented by a subtle hint of almond and light brioche. On the palate there’s crisp orchard fruit and lemon-zest acidity, framed by a clean mineral streak that lifts the finish. The mouth-feel is fresh and moderately weighted, finishing with gentle persistence and a chalky aftertaste. Serve this with grilled sole with beurre blanc, warm goat-cheese tartlet with caramelised onions, or roasted chicken in a lemon-thyme butter sauce for a balanced match. The Mâcon-Villages appellation lies in the Mâconnais sub-region of Burgundy, on limestone-rich soils favourable to Chardonnay.
