Sannio DOP, Campania, Italy – 100% Greco
Aromas of ripe peach and apricot, with pear, lemon zest, and a stony mineral note. Straw yellow with golden glints in the glass, and the nose is intensely fruity with those mineral hints running underneath. On the palate it shows the big structure this grape is known for, held together by a vibrant streak of acidity. The finish trails off with a gentle almond note. Savoury and salty.
Pair it with battered or braised vegetables, or a bowl of white bean soup. It's also lovely with pappardelle in cream and porcini, and just about anything egg-based, from a soft flan to an omelette, tortilla, or frittata.
