Initially matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks, it undergoes a six-month finishing period in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (PX) sherry hogsheads, imparting a rich umber hue and enhancing its depth of flavour. Bottled at a robust 55.7% ABV, this expression is non-chill filtered and retains its natural colour. On the nose, it presents aromas of toffee, baked figs, and rich raisins. The palate offers a mouth-coating experience with sherry sweetness, stewed raisins, lighter fruity notes, and subtle woody undertones. The finish is warm and smooth, characterized by lingering rich fruit flavours. While the whisky showcases a harmonious integration of flavours, some reviewers note a slight astringency on the palate.
