Médoc AOC, Bordeaux, France - Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon
This Médoc opens with a complex nose of black fruit, cassis, and plum with graphite, and roasted, toasty notes. The attack is generous and supple, giving way to a dense yet soft palate. The grapes grow on gravel soils near the Gironde Estuary, farmed by a family with Dutch roots who also raise cattle, and the wine spends 12 months in barrel. Pair it with prime rib, roast lamb, steak frites or aged hard cheeses.
