Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, BC, Canada – 100% Pinot Noir
A pale, Provence-style pink with aromas of pink grapefruit, watermelon and strawberry. The palate is dry and crisp with good concentration, pure, almost crystalline fruit, and a touch of texture from used oak. Restrained and elegant.
Perfect with grilled salmon, garlicky shrimp, a charcuterie board or a goat cheese salad, and just as happy on its own as an aperitif.
The winery is named after the address of its first vineyard near Naramata village. When it was found in 2012, it was an abandoned pear orchard that had never had a house on it, and the asking price was exactly one million dollars. Australian-trained winemaker Ben Bryant and wine marketer Katie Truscott took over in 2022 and added a rosé to what had been an all-Pinot Noir lineup. The wines are made in tiny quantities at the Naramata Wine Vault, a former fruit-packing plant.
