Szekszárd, Hungary – Traditional red blend (incl. Kékfrankos)
Aromas of ripe dark berries, spice, and earthy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied and savoury, with balanced acidity and a structured, spicy finish. Ideal with paprika-based dishes, roasted meats, or charcuterie with good company.
Bikavér (pronounced bee-kah-vair), meaning “Bull’s Blood,” is Hungary’s most famous red blend, mainly from Eger and Szekszárd. Typically full-bodied with deep colour, bright acidity, and spicy complexity, its name comes from a 16th-century legend where soldiers were said to drink it for strength during battle.
