Bordeaux, France – 100% Petit Verdot
Aromas of roasted cacao and violets draw you in, dark and brooding from the first sniff. The palate is powerful and full of character with notes of blueberry and coffee, carried by the rich supple tannins. Built for hearty plates think of grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, beef stews, game, and aged hard cheeses. Give it a decant if you've got the time.
A 100% Petit Verdot is a rarity in Bordeaux, where it's almost always a supporting blending grape. The Regaud family planted it as a tribute to grandfather Jacques, who made a life's work of championing the region's near-forgotten varieties.
