Bordeaux, France - 90% Malbec and 10% Merlot

Some wines just have a way of making you stop and pay attention. Les Choses Qu'on Aime — "The Things We Love" — is one of those wines.

This is not your typical Bordeaux. Grown on ancient red gravel soils on the right bank of the Gironde Estuary, the grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, and fermented in concrete tanks before spending 12 months in oak barrels. The result is deeply alluring — dark berries, baking spice, and chocolate on the nose, with lush damson plum, a whisper of oak, and a finish that is round, velvety, and genuinely hard to put down.

A little fun fact: Malbec is actually French. Known locally as Côt, it was once the backbone of Bordeaux before phylloxera and a devastating frost in 1956 wiped it out almost entirely. Château de la Grave never gave up on it — and this bottle is proof of why they were right to hold on.

Philippe, Valérie, and their daughter Lou Bassereau farm their 45 hectares biodynamically, with sheep and horses grazing between the vines and a deep commitment to the land that shows in every glass.

Pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef, venison, duck, and pork with cranberry sauce. Also extensively tested with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Results were outstanding.
