Loire Valley, France — 100% Melon de Bourgogne (Muscadet)

Pale straw in the glass with saline-kissed citrus, green pear and delicate stone fruit aromatics that segue into a dry, mineral-driven palate with lively acidity and a hint of orchard blossom on the finish. Lees ageing gives a subtle breadth and texture without heaviness, supporting notes of lemon zest and crushed shell. Pair with freshly shucked oysters, steamed mussels with parsley and lemon, light grilled cod, sushi or lemon-thyme roast chicken, all of which echo its sea-salt minerality and crisp acidity.

From a long-established fifth-generation family estate in the Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine appellation, this “Monopole” comes from a small plot on gneiss-rich soils where old Melon de Bourgogne vines thrive. Extended sur lie ageing and careful handling highlight terroir expression, making it a refined example of classic Loire Muscadet, this is more textured and ageworthy than many basic bottlings.
