Cauquenes Valley, Chile - 100% Carignan
Deep ruby-violet in colour, this wine opens with bold notes of black cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate, followed by a graphite edge. The palate is rich and structured, showing ripe plums and red currant balanced by firm but ripe tannins and lively acidity. Mouth-feel is full-bodied yet elegant, finishing with persistent dark-fruit sweetness and a smoky mineral tail. Pair this with grilled flank steak with chimichurri, roasted lamb with garlic and rosemary, earthy mushroom risotto, or a hearty cassoulet-style bean stew for a full-flavour match.
Schwaderer Wines is a boutique Chilean brand founded in 2015 by sisters Constanza Schwaderer and Mariane Schwaderer, working with ancestral vineyards in the Maule region. The Carignan comes from old vines (planted circa 1960) in Maule/Loncomilla Valley, grown organically and biodynamically with care and low intervention winemaking.
