Elgin Valley, South Africa — 100% Pinot Noir (Organic)
Fresh nose of strawberry, sweet cherry, and ripe plum are framed by a hint of dried herbs, earthy autumn spice, and a whisper of aniseed. The palate is supple and fine-tannin with a satin texture, a warm sweet core of fruit, and a long, tapering finish that speaks to both elegance and place. Seared duck breast, herb-roasted chicken, wild mushroom pasta, grilled salmon, or charcuterie boards are all excellent pairings.
Winemaker Alex Dale arrived in South Africa from Burgundy in 1994 — weeks after Nelson Mandela's election — and the Freedom Pinot Noir has been made as a personal statement ever since.
