Aromas of marasca cherry, blueberry, violet, and a lift of white and black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, with juicy red and dark berry fruit, fresh acidity, and persistent fine-grained tannins on a long, gently spiced finish. A lovely match for tomato-based pastas, braised beef, lamb ragù, roast pork, mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino.
Cesanese is an ancient Lazio variety once cultivated by the Volsci tribe and later by the Romans around the hill towns of Affile and Piglio.
