An Ancient Winery… Pretium is the triumph of the passion Berta Valgañon feels for wines, the legacy of 4 generations of vintners and producers of Rioja wine. Pretium Winery shows, as well, its love for land as it is settled at the foot of Mount El Bolo, in Cuzcurrita de Río Tirón (La Rioja). The ancient winery, restored by the Valgañon's, is composed mainly by a deep underground cave-winery where tradition and modernity meets in a perfect and amazingly respectful manner. Pretium elaborates its wines from unique vineyards: those planted by the great grandparents in 1901. Everything is done by hand and total production of the winery is about 6,000 bottles per year.

A mix of tradition of manual harvesting and cold maceration, on its skins, with fermentation in 500-liter French oak barrels, with its lees, and its subsequent aging (8 months).

Tasting Notes: Aromatic notes of orange blossom, yellow apple, nutty, and beeswax. On the palate, the entry is supple and enticing, balanced and with flavours of fruity expression.

Pairing Suggestions: Amazing with salted cod or paella and other rice based dishes with spices like saffron. Feeling snackish? Try it with fries and garlic aioli. Otherwise dishes with Spanish ham and braised seasonal vegetables will be delicious!
