Oriental, Rioja, Spain - 100% Garnacha (Grenache)
The Bagordi family began to make wine in 1723. It was then that they signed a pact with the land. 14 generations later the Carcar family continue to care for the land while guided by the same values established by their ancestors. In 1840, the King of Spain, Fernando VIII, appointed Manuel Baltasar Carcar to be a royal notary. Meanwhile, the family continued to work and develop the vineyards. It is their conviction that wine is, in fact, “made” in the vineyard by the application of effort and knowledge acquired over many generations.
The vineyard lies by the banks of the Ega and Ebro rivers, between the towns of Andosilla and San Adrián. 58 hectares of vineyard land all fall within the Rioja D.O.C. wine region.
Tasting Notes: Ripe wild strawberries and raspberries, and rose petals. On the palate it is fresh with fruity red berries and a touch of pepper spice.
Pairing Suggestions: Pasta with tomato sauce, mild cheese, tapas, and some seafood like anchovies, this way the fruit will be favoured along with the vegetal notes. Try it with Red tuna fish Carpaccio with tomatoes in a Pedro Ximénez sauce!
