McLaren Vale, Australia - 85% Shiraz, 15% Other Varieties
Aromas of ripe blackberries, blackcurrant, cocoa, with a lifted note of spice. The palate is bold with velvety tannins and great concentration of dark fruit, liquorice, dark chocolate, and a savoury finish. 14.5% abv. This is a serious wine that will age nicely for a couple more years, however it drinks great in it's youth as well!
The Name: Lovegrass (also known as Eragrostis, derived from the Greek words ἔρως, meaning "love", and ἄγρωστις, meaning "grass") is a weed that grows in the vineyards and its sticky flowers affectionately attached themselves to vineyard workers' socks. This Shiraz will linger with you in the same way the flowers do!
Pairing Suggestions: Great Valentines date wine if you're having a savoury steak dinner or finishing the night with some dark chocolate! Otherwise braised beef short ribs, roasted or grilled lamb and venison, great for a hardy winter stew with a side of mushroom or red pepper dishes!
