McLaren Vale, Australia - 56% Grenache, 44% Shiraz
Opaque ruby red in glass, this wine starts with ample aromas of pomegranate, cranberry, strawberry and red plum. The palate is smooth as pomegranate takes the lead again, but this time followed by damson plum, juicy blackberry, finishing with savoury meaty and herbaceous notes. A textured mouth feel, with fine tannins, and a bright acidity.
Pairing Suggestions: Excellent with braised short ribs, buttery ribeye steaks, and gamey lamb shank with rosemary. Delicious with Osso Buco served with polenta or risotto. Otherwise smoked eggplant or earthy and sweet gourd dishes with a touch of nutmeg would be great. Que the Pumpkin Ravioli!
