The Story
A modern classic that took off in a big way! Created in 2007 by Sam Ross, former head bartender at Milk & Honey, NYC. This cocktail is loved by men & women alike for its addictive smoothness. It is even rumoured to be the unofficial cocktail of Toronto due to its overwhelming popularity.
With a cocktail as interesting, smooth and complex as the Paper Plane, the challenge here was somewhat different from the other cocktails in the Drinksmith Collection.
We wanted to introduce a shelf stable cocktail that harnessed all the fresh taste and character of real pressed lemon juice whilst being stable enough to bottle for dependable longevity.
Working with Bridgeland Distilleries pioneering Limoncello we set about engineering the true taste and experience of fresh citrus, in effect re-engineering the lemon from the breakdown of its parts. What was achieved was a liqueur that offers all the pleasurable qualities of fresh lemon juice and perhaps even beyond.
Marrying this breakthrough ingredient with world class amaro, Aperol and our signature whisky blend, carefully balanced to work in symphony with the other ingredients we have created a cocktail that is dangerously easy to drink. Serve the cocktail in some vintage stemware straight from the freezer and we think you will agree that this cocktail breaks boundaries for what was previously thought possible in a bottled cocktail - Complexity without compromise!
