Mendoza, Argentina
Known for outstanding wines, the Bodega y Cavas de Weinert has held their wines longer than a lot of Argentinian wineries, such as this 2010 Vintage Malbec from old vines over 40 years old!
Gorgeous colour of ruby red with slight bricking on the rim. Aromas of dried sweet purple plum, sour cherry, earthy forest floor, herbal tobacco, and tea leaf. The palate is oh so velvety with ripe tannins, and flavours of blackberry, dew kissed mossy earth, leather, finishing with an echo of sour cherries.
Pairing Suggestions: This would be perfectly enjoyed on a Friday night, nestled in on a cozy leather couch, as Boplicity by Miles Davis plays in the background, and beef bourguignon gently simmers on the stove. Otherwise, perfect with Charcuterie, cheese (stilton & blue), and milk chocolate. Or meats like steak, pork or even gamey lamb dishes. Creamy mushroom sauces or savoury rosemary, thyme, and pepper sauces would be delicious.
